We are often asked how to craft an "ULTIMATE" story.
Story-telling is an art and crafting a story that entertains, enlightens, inspires, and motivates is a skill. The style is more inviting and intimate than journalism.
Each ULTIMATE book covers a specific topic or passion, and while topics will vary, an ULTIMATE book will always contain well-written, original, non-fiction stories with central elements that include one or more of the following themes;
Overcoming obstacles and meeting challenges in life; big and small
The experience of a synchronistic moment, a moment of “fate,” or something awe-inspiring
Being the recipient, or the giver, of a random act of kindness and the impact it had
Life lessons learned (the hard or not-so-hard way) delivered in a non-preachy style
Making the best of life and maintaining a positive attitude especially in difficult situations
Become the audience. Think about your most memorable experience or the takeaway moment, and how it impacted you. Write your story as vividly as you would tell someone in person.
The story arc should begin with a paragraph with a strong hook to reel readers into the time and place.
Lead up to the dramatic moment, the action, or the problem/tension by the middle of the story.
Depending on the emotional quality of the story (entertaining, enlightening, or motivating), wrap-up with a paragraph that makes people laugh, gives the reader something to remember, or leaves them with an inspiring nugget that makes them think.
End the story with a punch. A good ULTIMATE story will either make you laugh, make you cry, give you goose bumps, or make you think about life in a different way—even for a moment.
